Obeseity RANT

I was driving around last night doing some errands befor going home after work and heard something that made me angry.

They were saying that Jenny Craig was going to be putting out a new commercial this season with Santa in it. They said that Santa was a bad role model and image for our kids being over weight!!!

HOW RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!

Santa has always been a jolly round guy... for generation after generation... and NOW he is bad for our kids because of his belly??

What do these people think they are doing??

I realize that we are in epidemic status with all of us who are over weight.. but for crying out loud!!!!! I firmly believe that instead of looking to our traditions that have been with us for 100's of years we should start looking at our society!!..

I remember playing outside til it was dark.. that was my curfew.... I remember riding my bike everywhere.. I remember having an alotted amount of time I could watch the TV.. and Video Games?? only if you had quarters!!!!

Why are we not looking at our society as a whole and seeing that we are a fat and lazy society now... working hard now consists of walking to the car.. driving... walking to the office.. and then the return trip.. we all normally sit on our rumps all day and never break a sweat.. We shove fast food at our kids in the back seat of the SUV and call it "balanced".. we sit in front of the television of hours every day... and we allow our kids to get shoes that have wheels in them for the "fun" of it instead of making them walk.

Our kids are growing up with absolutely no respect whatsoever for adults and are allowed to get away with it. And here Jenny Craig wants to put an add on television about Santa being too fat.. and ruining one of the happy traditions our society has by bashing the mascot!!!

just how far are we going to go with all of this??

Why can't we as parents look in the mirror and our households to see what is going wrong with the kids today and take back some of the responsibility we have just let go??

Why do we have to constantly look somewhere else to find the blame??
