Well I spent yesterday with the family. We all went out to Olive Garden for a farewell dinner for DAG... He will be leaving for the Navy on Wednesday.
It is such a bittersweet time. There is a huge sense of pride that he is going into the millitary and making a life changing decission that has the potential to have him set for life career-wise.
And then there is the fact that he is leaving. When the 1st one left it was just up the road a ways.. bout 30 minutes away and I still get to see him on a regular basis.. I also talk to him on a regular basis. That will not be possible with DAG leaving.. We will not be able to see or talk to him for a long time.
Even though he is not my "son" I am still going to miss him terribly. I can only imagine exactly what his mom is feeling. I can sympathize only marginally to what she is going through because it is so different.
I wish him the best in his new chapter of life and hope he succeeds beyond his wildest dreams.
